Whole Soul Consulting is the ever-evolving vision of Rev. Jessica Boyce, an Elder in the United Methodist Church through the Mountain Sky Conference. Years of providing pastoral care, spirituality-based life coaching, and social service work have revealed a common thread for many people seeking counseling: religious based trauma. Judgements regarding divorce, infertility, sexuality, and family systems are often rooted in religion. Generations of us have been raised to make other people happy, to not set our own boundaries, and to bend to the will of a faith that may or may not be our own. Blending theology, trauma based care, counseling concepts and a refusal to accept the continuation of harm from religious sources, Rev. Jessica provides unique care and support on your journey of healing and the creation of healthy relationships.

With a Masters in Divinity from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University, Religious Trauma Certification from the Global Center for Religious Research, and Coaching Certification from Coach Training Alliance, Rev. Jessica Boyce blends pastoral care, coaching, personal experience and theology to help you identify the ways the past is harming your present, and then move into a healthier future. Through experiences serving in churches and the international mission field, Rev. Jessica is focused on recognizing and healing religious based trauma for all members of the community.
Are seeking to understand why religion has been used to harm you, and healing from that harm
Struggle with negative judgements and comments related to divorce, infertility, or sexuality
Are seeking to set healthy boundaries
Wonder how your family history might be sabotaging your present and future
Are preparing for marriage or similar commitment and seeking meaningful pre-commitment counseling or 'leave and cleave" relationship counseling
Are 'spiritual but not religious' and seeking spiritual counsel
Are not religious but carrying the burden of past religious experiences
Are trying to find a healthy, blessing based journey of faith,
leaving behind the guilt and shame that too often comes with mainstream religion
Rev. Jessica is extremely passionate about helping people to discern their call to ministry. The first time I met Jessica I told her about my passions for the church and how I felt like I did not know where to turn next in continuing the candidacy process. She took an immediate interest in me and we scheduled a time to meet that week. Since then she has stood by my side every step of the way offering honest and caring feedback that has been invaluable. She is an amazing, justice filled pastor, individual, and mentor who I am fortunate to have in my life and path towards ordained ministry in the UMC.

Rev. Jessica saw something in me that I'd lost track of. Epiphany is not too strong a word for my experience with her counseling. She took the time to get to know me, then helped me find a direction. The direction was always there, I just needed someone to clear away the cobwebs. I needed someone who could help me see the whole forest even from amidst the trees. That's what Jessica does. She is empowering and she is an architect and builder of self-esteem for her clients. I thank God for her every day.

Rev. Jessica Boyce was my mentor in ministry for five years through my journey toward ordained ministry as I graduated with my M.Div and moved on to an internship and eventually my first pastoral appointment. I have received so much support from Rev. Jessica. She is truly a pastor through and through. She cares for both your professional and personal journey through life, and helps you to integrate one with the other as you navigate the local church and the United Methodist Church and its requirements. While under her mentorship, she was willing to meet with me as needed, provided me with examples from her own experience and asked questions to guide me toward finding my own unique answers and ideas for how to handle something in ministry and how to go about preparing for candidacy paperwork and interviews. I cannot say enough about the impact Rev. Jessica has had in my professional and personal life and give her my full recommendation to help others in this way as she goes forward!

I was the leader for my church mission group’s trip to Freeport, Bahamas. It was such a fantastic trip from beginning to end. We were always informed of everything we needed to have taken care of (passports, flights, etc.). It was my first time taking a group internationally and you made it so easy! We were greeted at the airport with shuttle to our hotel that had been booked for us. The hotel and beach were great! We were provided transportation to our worksites and meals and meet some really great and loving people. We worked on repairs to the school in the area that had been damaged by the hurricane and also lead a VBS at a local church. We were always provided the equipment and supplies necessary. The most amazing part was the awesome worship on the beach in the evenings. We worked and worshiped with the Bahamian people. We felt God’s presence all throughout our trip. My students were exposed to another cultural which was an eye-opening and educational experience. We were changed for life! Thank you for a great trip! We can’t wait to come back!

As everything closed down for Covid, and FUMC Rogersville, TN prepared to go virtual, we decided to do the "Tie that Binds" sermon series from Worship Design Studio. I distributed strips of paper to the congregation using mail, drop-offs, a box at the church, and the drive through at the bank (where a member was the manager). We asked everyone to write "Blest Be The Tie That Binds) on the fabric.
